An ambitious project

Grand Paris Express is the largest urban development project in Europe, including the creation of 200km of new lines and 68 stations.

The new metro will mainly be underground, crossing the Greater Paris regions to link them to each other and to the capital. Line 15 South is the first part of the project, launched in 2017, and work package T2A is one of the most complex on the line. It involves building a tunnel approximately 6.6km long, drilled by two tunnel boring machines, with four stations, various structures on the new line and connections to the future maintenance site.

The Bouygues TP-Soletanche Bachy consortium is carrying out the civil engineering work for this work package, worth €807 million.

A complete monitoring service

Sixense was asked to carry out all of the monitoring relating to these works.

In such a dense urban environment, all of Sixense’s technical skills were needed to provide services as varied as structural monitoring of neighbouring plots and the structures under construction, as well as continuous acoustic monitoring of the impact of the works (by Sixense Engineering teams). Thousands of sensors are installed on neighbouring buildings, on the structures under construction and in boreholes, to monitor the progress of the work, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To ensure better risk control, automated monitoring solutions were prioritised during the most sensitive phases of the works. The Geoscope platform developed by the Sixense Monitoring teams provides all project participants with permanent centralised access to the data.
