Located in Ho Chi Minh City, the Binh Khanh Bridge is an exceptional structure: nearly 2,800 m in length, including a 750 m main span, with 2 pylons and 136 stay cables.
Its slender design, featuring tall pylons and a thin deck, makes it particularly sensitive to deformation and vibrations, with specific challenges related to cables and the risk of foundation scour.
From data to insight: understanding the structure’s behaviour
Sixense has deployed a comprehensive Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system to characterize the bridge’s actual behaviour under all types of loads: permanent loads, traffic and environmental conditions.
Installed during the construction phase, the sensors make it possible to establish a baseline of the structure’s behaviour after commissioning, providing a reliable reference for long-term monitoring.
Detecting anomalies helps anticipate the bridge’s future behaviour while reducing maintenance costs.
Monitoring key parameters
With a total of 160 sensors, the system covers all critical parameters: deformations, vibrations, stresses, cables, scour, environmental conditions and traffic.
Turning data into decisions
The system also enables comparison between measured data and design assumptions, ensuring continuous verification of the consistency between actual behaviour and the structural model. The data available on our Beyond Monitoring platform provides valuable support for decision-making.
