Job Description
• Performs the operations related to the installation, commissioning, configuration, maintenance, repair, removal, disposal and recycling of geotechnical, structural, optical and environmental sensors, along with their associated parts and electronic components, deployed on Sixense Solutions Canada Ltd’s projects,
• Responsible for quality control and technical issues on a given project or assignment.,
• Provide technical, design, quality control and managerial support to Project Managers in running projects,
• Provide Business Development, Engineering and Corporate support for Project Managers and Operations Manager as assigned
• Travel nationwide to be expected occasionally
• Reports to: District Operations Manager
• Right to work in the Canada mandatory

Key responsibilities
• Ensures that all applicable safety regulations are met and enforced; responsible for safety on site.
• Prepares submittals, designs, material purchases, and accurate record keeping.
• Responsible for setup, completion and reporting of projects operations (as defined in the Summary above) following the Project Manager’s instructions and Sixense Inc’s policies:
– Pre-installation: building, testing, logging and records keeping, packaging, shipment to site,
– On-site installation: assembling, installing, on-site configuring and commissioning, documenting as required
– Post-Installation: prepare submittals, perform necessary programming of loggers, provide information and documentation to Data Engineers for their proper implementation on the IDMS,
– On-site maintenance and operations: routine QA inspections, tunes-ups and cleaning, diagnose failures and pathologies, perform repairs as necessary, document site conditions and vulnerabilities
– Decommissioning and disposal: uninstall instruments and associated parts, dispose of non-reusable parts, repatriation of re-usable parts to the relevant office, cleaning and restoration of site to pre-existing conditions, cleaning and restoration of inventoried instruments for future deployments, documentation of the inventory data base

Experience
• Experience related to Sixense Solutions Canada Ltd. core business, techniques and equipment is a plus but not mandatory (see Knowledge below),

Knowledge & Abilities
• Knowledge in Instrumentation and Monitoring,
• Knowledge of instrumentation, monitoring, survey, remote sensing, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, wired and wireless communication system, major loggers programming
• Basic knowledge of job costing procedures
• Ability to suggest recommendations to Project Manager for project related decisions such as estimating and risk assessment
• Ability to meet with clients;
• Ability to oversee subcontracted services (typically drilling, surveying, traffic control, coring, arborists, etc.)
• Scheduling skills
• MS Word, Excel and Outlook relative to reporting site construction and engineering activities
• Being “handy”, curious, thirst for learning new things, autodidact

Physical Requirements
• Reaching high and low, stooping, and bending continually
• Lifting/carrying/moving at least 40 pounds and up to 100 pounds continually
• Travels per the company travel policy, often overnight and away from home
• Able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment
• Able to work in all types of weather

Tasks
• Pre-installation: design, building, acceptance testing, logging and records keeping, comparing installation plan to technical/client requirements, delivery to site. Notification to Project Manager of defect
• On-site installation: assembling, installing, on-site configuring and commissioning, verification of normal readings, documenting and records keeping including Pre and Post installation photos and forms.
• Post-Installation: prepare submittals, perform necessary programming of loggers, provide information, documenting and records keeping as required to Project Manager and Monitoring Engineers for their proper implementation on the IDMS ,
• On-site maintenance and operations: routine QC inspections, calibrations, maintenance and cleaning, observe system performance, diagnose failures and subsequently failure prevention, perform repairs as necessary, document site conditions and identify potential problem areas, documentation and record keeping as required,
• Decommissioning and disposal: uninstall instruments and associated components, dispose of non-reusable parts, repatriation of re-usable parts to the relevant office, cleaning and restoration of site to pre-existing conditions, cleaning and restoration of inventoried instruments for future deployments, documentation of the inventory data base
